Individual Therapy

55-60 MINUTES $200-225

At the begining of therapy, you and your therapist will work together to establish goals and will begin to develop a plan for how to achieve these goals.  Sessions will then focus on gaining knowledge and insight into yourself and the context in which you live, building skills and coping strategies that will help you to get over barriers that may be in your way, and bolstering the strengths you already possess so that you can achieve your personal goals.

People choose to participate in individual therapy for a variety of reasons, including (but not limited to): relationship distress, trauma, abuse, stress management, the loss of a loved one, fostering greater meaning in life, making difficult decisions, life transitions (ex. marriage, retirement, childbirth, adoption, new job, moving, etc.), anxiety, and depression.

Couples Therapy

55-60 MINUTES $200-225

Couples therapy is different from individual therapy in that the primary focus is the relationship rather than either individual.  Sessions will focus on increasing communication, empathy, connection, closeness, and intimacy within the relationship.  Partners will examine the way that they interact with one another and will learn and explore new ways of relating.

A few common reasons that couples choose to participate in couples therapy include (but are not limited to): communication issues, decline in intimacy, emotional detachment, increased conflict, infidelity, work/life balance, parenting, pre-marital or newly-coupled foundation-building, death or illness of a family member, and life transitions (ex. children leaving the home, retirement, child birth, adoption, etc.).

Family Therapy

55-60 MINUTES $200-225

Family relationships are both wonderful and complex and are often the most important and formative relationships in our lives.  As such, conflict within the family often causes a significant amount of distress for all of the members of that family.  Family therapy focuses on changing the way that we relate to one another so that we can experience increased closeness, connection, and understanding.  The entire family may be asked to attend every session, or sessions may include various family members at various times.  Individuals may also be asked to meet with the therapist one-on-one, although this is done in the interest of the entire family rather than a particular individual.  Family involvement is also frequently recommended for children and adolescents who are experiencing emotional distress or behavioral disturbance.

Reasons family members may choose to participate in family therapy include (but are not limited to): parent-child relationship conflict, co-parenting difficulties, adjusting to new children or siblings (by birth, adoption, or fostering), child or adolescent behavioral concerns, communication issues, unhealthy limits and boundaries, death of a family member, a life event or transition that impacts the entire family, strained in-law relationships, parental conflict, blending families, and divorce/separation.
